Installation Instructions

1. Vehicle Preparation: If your vehicle is equipped with air suspension, make sure to activate "jack mode" before lifting the vehicle. This precaution helps prevent damage to the suspension system. For vehicles with air suspension, it may also be necessary to set the suspension to "high" or "very high" to ensure proper positioning and support on a vehicle lift.
2. Removal (if replacing):
   • Using a 10 - mm socket and a ratchet/torque wrench, remove the bolts (x11) that secure the existing mid aero shield to the rear fascia. The torque for these bolts is 5 Nm (3.7 lbs - ft).
   • On both sides of the vehicle, remove the bolts (x2) that fasten the wheel arch liner to the mid aero shield. These bolts should be torqued to 4 Nm.
   • If there are any additional bolts (x4, if equipped) that secure the mid aero shield to the bracket, remove them as well, using the appropriate torque (usually 4 Nm).
   • Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the mid aero shield to the body, with a torque of 4 Nm.
   • On both sides of the vehicle, remove the fastener that secures the shear plate to the subframe. This fastener typically requires a torque of 35 Nm. Be sure to move the shear plate away from the working area.
   • Carefully remove the old mid aero shield from the vehicle.
3. Installation of New Aero Shield:
   • Apply a thin bead of threadlocker to the threads of the bolts that will attach the new rear aero shield to the vehicle.
   • Place the new Rear Aero Shield 1588165 - 00 - D in position on the underside of the vehicle.
   • Install the bolts (x11) that attach the aero shield to the vehicle, tightening them to 5 Nm (3.7 lbs - ft) using a 10 - mm socket, a 4 - in extension, and a ratchet/torque wrench.
   • Install the bolts (x2) that secure the wheel arch liner to the aero shield, torquing them to 4 Nm.
   • If applicable, install the bolts (x4) that attach the aero shield to the bracket, using the correct torque.
   • Install the bolts (x3) that attach the aero shield to the body, torquing them to 4 Nm.
   • Install the fastener that secures the shear plate to the subframe, torquing it to 35 Nm.
   • Finally, install the push clips (x2) located at the left - hand (LH) and right - hand (RH) of the wheel house liner.
4. Final Check: After installation, carefully inspect the aero shield to ensure that it is properly aligned and all bolts and clips are securely fastened. Lower the vehicle from the lift and take it for a short test drive to check for any unusual noises or vibrations.
